1. Mission and Objectives

Founded in 1999, KODISA Foundation, formerly known as the Korea Distribution Science Association, is an independent nonprofit academic foundation dedicated to advancing scholarly knowledge and contributing to society through sustainable academic activities.

The Foundation supports academic research, education, scholarly publishing, research integrity, and international academic exchange across diverse fields, including business, management, economics, distribution science, sustainability, industry, technology, culture, Korean studies, wellbeing, applied psychology, foodservice, tourism, and related interdisciplinary areas.

KODISA Foundation serves as an institutional academic platform for researchers, students, educators, authors, reviewers, editors, practitioners, and academic communities in Korea and abroad. Its principal activities include publishing peer-reviewed academic journals, organizing international conferences, supporting research and educational programs, promoting research ethics, and facilitating scholarly communication.

KODISA Foundation owns, manages, and publishes KODISA Journals, a portfolio of peer-reviewed scholarly journals. The Foundation retains ownership and final publishing responsibility for its journals. Some journals maintain formal affiliations with independent academic societies for scholarly cooperation, research exchange, name association, and promotional support. These affiliations do not alter the Foundation’s ownership or publishing responsibility unless expressly stated otherwise.

Depending on the scope, publication history, and evaluation status of each journal, KODISA Journals may be indexed in major domestic or international scholarly databases. The Foundation is committed to strengthening the academic quality, transparency, editorial independence, international visibility, and long-term sustainability of its journals and scholarly programs.

KODISA Foundation operates according to a public-benefit reinvestment model. After necessary publishing, administrative, and program-operating expenses, all remaining proceeds from its academic activities are reinvested in research grants, scholarships, academic conferences, and research ethics education. No net proceeds are distributed for the private financial benefit of any individual.

Article processing charges and other publication-related payments do not influence manuscript evaluation, peer review, acceptance, or publication decisions. Editorial decisions are made independently and are based solely on scholarly quality, methodological rigor, originality, research integrity, and relevance to each journal’s aims and scope.

2. Social Responsibility and Public-Benefit Reinvestment

KODISA Foundation regards social responsibility as an essential part of its mission as a nonprofit academic foundation. Through scholarly publishing, research support, education, and international exchange, the Foundation seeks to return knowledge-based value and resources to researchers, students, academic communities, and society.

2.1 Research and Educational Support

The Foundation provides research grants, scholarships, and other forms of academic and educational support. These programs encourage responsible research, strengthen scholarly capacity, expand educational opportunities, and support students and emerging researchers.

Funding and scholarship decisions are made according to the objectives and assessment procedures established for each program. These decisions are administered separately from journal editorial and publication decisions.

2.2 Academic Conferences and International Exchange

KODISA Foundation organizes and supports academic conferences, workshops, research exchange programs, and scholarly networking activities. These initiatives enable researchers and students to present their findings, participate in interdisciplinary dialogue, and develop international research collaboration.

The KODISA International Conference on Business and Economics and related academic events form part of the Foundation’s continuing commitment to international scholarly exchange. Conference proceedings may be published or submitted to relevant indexing services where applicable.

2.3 Research Ethics and Responsible Publishing

The Foundation supports research ethics and publication ethics education for researchers, students, authors, reviewers, editors, and academic institutions. Its educational activities address responsible authorship, peer-review integrity, plagiarism, conflicts of interest, data integrity, citation practices, generative AI use, editorial accountability, and research misconduct.

KODISA Foundation applies research and publication ethics policies across KODISA Journals and seeks to maintain fair, confidential, consistent, and transparent editorial processes. The Foundation periodically reviews its policies in response to developments in international research and publication ethics.

2.4 Financial Stewardship and Public-Benefit Reinvestment

Revenue generated through the Foundation’s journals, conferences, and related academic activities is used to support its nonprofit purposes. Necessary expenses include peer-review administration, editorial services, DOI registration, digital publication, long-term preservation, journal development, technology, and academic program management.

After these essential expenses, all remaining proceeds are reinvested in:

  • research grants and scholarly support;

  • scholarships and educational programs;

  • academic conferences and international research exchange; and

  • research ethics and publication ethics education.

The Foundation does not distribute net proceeds for private benefit. It manages its resources to support responsible scholarly publishing, academic development, knowledge accessibility, and the long-term sustainability of the academic community.
