Guide for Authors

1. Introduction

KODISA Journals are a group of international peer-reviewed scholarly journals owned, managed, and published by KODISA Foundation. The journals cover diverse academic fields, including but not limited to business, economics, distribution science, finance, management, industry, technology, culture, Korean studies, tourism, wellbeing, applied psychology, foodservice, and related interdisciplinary areas.

Each KODISA journal maintains its own aims and scope, submission requirements, publication schedule, manuscript format, and detailed author guidelines. Authors must carefully follow the specific requirements of the journal to which they submit. Where there is any difference between these general guidelines and the specific guidelines of an individual KODISA journal, the specific guidelines of the relevant journal shall apply.

KODISA Journals welcome theoretical, conceptual, empirical, review-based, and interdisciplinary research that contributes to academic knowledge and practice within the scope of each journal.

1.1 Submission

Authors should submit manuscripts through the submission system or submission method specified by the individual KODISA journal. Depending on the journal, submissions may be made through an online submission system, an official journal platform, or by e-mail as indicated in the journal’s submission information.

Manuscript files should be submitted in an editable format, such as Microsoft Word, unless otherwise specified by the relevant journal. PDF files may be accepted only when specifically permitted by the individual journal’s submission guidelines.

All manuscripts must be prepared according to the KODISA submission guidelines and the specific author guidelines of the journal to which the manuscript is submitted.

1.2 Submission Declaration

Submission of a manuscript implies that the work has not been previously published, except in the form of an abstract, academic thesis, conference presentation, lecture, or other form permitted by the relevant journal’s policy. It also implies that the manuscript is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, is not being simultaneously submitted to another journal, and has been approved by all authors and, where applicable, by the responsible institution or authority where the work was carried out.

Each submission must include a submission declaration confirming that the manuscript has not been published previously, is not under review elsewhere, and is not being submitted simultaneously to another journal. Authors must also disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest.

Recommended submission declaration:

“I/We confirm that this manuscript has not been published previously, is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, and is not being simultaneously submitted to another journal. I/We also confirm that all authors have approved the manuscript and that any actual or potential conflicts of interest have been fully disclosed.”

1.3 Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice

KODISA Journals are committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and take all reasonable measures to prevent publication malpractice. Authors must ensure that their manuscripts represent original work and that all sources are properly cited.

KODISA Journals endeavor to follow internationally accepted principles of publication ethics, including the principles and ethical guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), where applicable. Authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial staff are expected to act with integrity, fairness, transparency, and respect for academic standards throughout the submission, review, and publication process.

Any suspected misconduct, including plagiarism, duplicate submission, data fabrication, falsification, inappropriate authorship, citation manipulation, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or ethical violations, may be investigated by the Editor-in-Chief, the editorial board, or KODISA Foundation in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics policy.

1.4 Plagiarism and Similarity Screening

KODISA Journals may use similarity-checking software, such as iThenticate or other appropriate tools, to detect overlapping or similar text in submitted manuscripts. Similarity reports are used as part of the editorial screening process and do not automatically determine acceptance or rejection.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are original, properly cited, and free from plagiarism, duplicate publication, and inappropriate text recycling. Manuscripts may be returned, rejected, or subject to further investigation if excessive similarity, plagiarism, or other ethical concerns are identified.

Specific similarity thresholds, if applicable, may vary by journal and shall be applied according to the policy of the relevant KODISA journal.

1.5 Conflict of Interest

All authors must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest that could influence, or be perceived to influence, the research, interpretation, or publication of the manuscript. Conflicts may include financial, personal, professional, institutional, or other relationships related to the submitted work.

If there are no conflicts of interest, authors should include a statement such as:

“The authors declare no conflict of interest.”

1.6 Copyright and Open Access

Copyright and open access policies shall be applied according to the policy of the relevant KODISA journal and KODISA Foundation.

Unless otherwise stated, KODISA Journals apply the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License, CC BY-NC 4.0, to published articles. Under this license, articles may be copied, distributed, and reused for non-commercial purposes, provided that the original author and source are properly cited.

Upon acceptance, the corresponding author may be required to complete the journal publishing agreement required by the relevant KODISA journal and KODISA Foundation. Authors should not publish the same article elsewhere in the same form without proper permission in accordance with the copyright and open access policy of the relevant journal.

1.7 Peer Review Policy

KODISA Journals operate a double-blind peer-review process unless otherwise stated by the specific journal. In the double-blind review process, the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential.

All submitted manuscripts are first assessed by the editorial office and/or the Editor-in-Chief for completeness, suitability, ethical compliance, similarity concerns, and relevance to the journal’s aims and scope. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s basic requirements may be returned to authors or rejected without external review.

Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial assessment are assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers for scholarly evaluation. Reviewers assess the manuscript’s originality, academic contribution, methodological soundness, clarity, ethical compliance, and relevance to the journal’s aims and scope.

The Editor-in-Chief or handling editor makes the final editorial decision based on the reviewers’ comments, the quality of the manuscript, and the journal’s editorial standards. Reviewers provide recommendations, but the final decision regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection rests with the Editor-in-Chief or the authorized editorial decision-maker.

When reviewer opinions are substantially divergent, or when additional expert judgment is necessary, an additional reviewer may be invited or the editorial board may be consulted before a final decision is made.

1.8 Double-Blind Review Preparation

To ensure anonymity, authors must remove all identifying information from the main manuscript file. The main manuscript should not include author names, affiliations, acknowledgements, funding information, institutional identifiers, or any other information that may reveal the authors’ identities.

A separate title page should include the manuscript title, author names, affiliations, acknowledgements, funding information, conflict-of-interest statement, and complete contact information for the corresponding author.

Authors may cite their own previous works when necessary, but such citations should be written in a manner that does not directly reveal the authors’ identities during the review process.

Acceptable examples:

“Lee (2013) indicated that…”

“Some scholars have indicated that similar findings exist in this area (e.g., Lee, 2013; Youn & Lee, 2018).”

2. Manuscript Preparation

2.1 Language

Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the language policy of the individual KODISA journal. Most KODISA journals publish manuscripts in English; however, authors must follow the specific language requirements of the journal to which they submit.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the manuscript is written clearly and professionally. The journal may request language editing before review, revision, or final publication when necessary.

2.2 Word Count

Recommended manuscript length may vary by journal and article type. As a general guide, regular research articles are commonly between 5,000 and 7,000 words, excluding references, tables, figures, and appendices. Authors should consult the specific guidelines of the relevant journal.

2.8 Keywords

Authors should provide keywords immediately after the abstract. The number of keywords may vary by journal, but five keywords are generally recommended.

2.9 Classification Codes

Where applicable, authors should provide classification codes, such as JEL codes, according to the requirements of the individual journal. Classification codes are not required for all KODISA journals and should be used only when relevant to the journal’s academic field.

2.10 Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should be numbered consecutively and cited in the text. Each table and figure should include a clear title or caption. Authors must ensure that tables and figures are accurate, readable, and properly sourced.

The placement, format, resolution, and submission method for tables and figures should follow the specific requirements of the relevant journal.

2.11 References and Citation Style

Authors should follow the citation and reference style required by the individual KODISA journal. Unless otherwise specified, references should follow the latest edition of the APA Publication Manual.

Authors must ensure that every reference cited in the text appears in the reference list and that every item in the reference list is cited in the text.

2.12 Acknowledgements

Acknowledgements should be included on the title page or in the designated section required by the journal. To preserve anonymity during double-blind review, acknowledgements should not appear in the main manuscript file submitted for review.

2.13 AI Use Disclosure

If authors use generative AI or AI-assisted tools in preparing a manuscript, they must disclose such use in accordance with the KODISA Generative AI Usage Policy and the policy of the relevant journal.

AI tools may be used for limited purposes such as language polishing, grammar checking, formatting assistance, or idea organization, where permitted by the journal. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of the submitted work.

AI tools must not be listed as authors. Authors must not use AI tools to fabricate data, citations, results, peer review reports, images, tables, or other scholarly content.

  10. Funding information has been disclosed, where applicable.

  11. AI use has been disclosed, where applicable.

  12. The manuscript follows the formatting and submission requirements of the relevant journal.

4. After Acceptance

4.1 Proofs

After acceptance, proofs may be sent to the corresponding author for final checking. Authors are responsible for carefully reviewing the proofs and returning corrections within the period specified by the journal.

Proof corrections should be limited to typographical errors, formatting issues, and production-related matters. Significant changes to the accepted manuscript may require approval from the Editor-in-Chief or handling editor.

The journal may proceed with publication if no response is received within the specified proof correction period.

4.2 Publication and Online Access

After final production, the article will be published according to the publication schedule and format of the relevant KODISA journal. The corresponding author will be provided with the final published PDF, article link, or other publication information according to the journal’s policy.

4.3 Indexing and Abstracting

Publication metadata may be submitted to relevant indexing and abstracting databases, where applicable. Indexing decisions, processing times, and database coverage are determined solely by the respective indexing agencies and cannot be guaranteed by KODISA Foundation or individual KODISA journals.

5. General Provision

These guidelines provide general author instructions applicable to KODISA Journals. Specific requirements may differ depending on the journal, discipline, article type, indexing status, submission system, and publication policy.
